Nestled on the beachfront at Horseshoe Bay, Ankah Beach Bar & Restaurant is the new chapter for the old Sandi’s site, the same prime location with a more relaxed, flavour driven approach.

The menu keeps things straightforward, with burgers, pizzas, and easy crowd favourites, alongside a subtle Sri Lankan twist that comes through in the sauces and spice. It is simple, done well, the kind of place where you can grab a solid burger, share a pizza, and have a few drinks without overthinking it.

Earlier in the day, breakfast and brunch cover all bases, including gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options, along with cabinet pastries and coffee for those heading out to explore the island.

Into the afternoon and evening, the beachfront beer garden comes into its own. From the couple behind the Ceylon Curry Van, weekly specials include Sri Lankan Kottu Night, Flavours of Asia, Curry Night, and their well known all day Sunday roast, with the ocean outlook doing most of the heavy lifting. Daily deals run from 3 to 5pm, Sunday sessions bring in live local music, and free nightly kids movies make it an easy option for families.

It is a genuinely family friendly venue, with space for kids to settle in while adults relax and enjoy the setting. The space still leans into what made it popular, with a huge screen for sport and events, regular live music, and plenty of room to host functions or group bookings.

Same view over Horseshoe Bay, same easy island feel, just a more current take on the food.
