Nautilus Aviation offers scenic helicopter flights over Magnetic Island, departing from their base at Garbutt. The journey begins over Townsville’s waterfront and Cleveland Bay before heading east to Maggie, where the views really come into their own. From above, you’ll take in untouched beaches, rugged headlands, coral-fringed reefs and those unmistakable turquoise waters that make the island so special.

Flights around the island range from 30 to 45 minutes, with longer options also showcasing Townsville City, Cape Cleveland, the Palm Island Group and even Hinchinbrook Island. With Townsville’s reliable sunshine and clear skies, it’s an ideal spot to see North Queensland from a completely different angle.

For something extra special, Nautilus Aviation teams up with Pilgrim Sailing to combine a helicopter scenic flight with a small-group sailing experience. Departing from The Ville Resort and Casino, you’ll fly over Magnetic Island before landing at the Nelly Bay helipad. From there, the day continues on the water, sailing to one of the island’s quieter, tucked-away bays.
