Friday night in Arcadia means a trip to the Magnetic Island RSL. From 5pm to 8pm, the little RSL on Hayles Avenue comes alive with food, drinks, live music and locals settling in for the evening.

These aren’t big markets packed with rows of stalls. They’re smaller, wonderfully local and food is very much the focus. Grab dinner from one of the visiting food vendors or order from the RSL kitchen, then find yourself a table outside and settle in for the night. Whats On Magnetic Island

Thai food has long been a Friday night favourite, with different food vendors joining the evening throughout the year. The RSL’s own kitchen is also open, along with the licensed bar, so you can grab dinner and a cold drink without having to go anywhere else. RSL Queensland

There’s usually live music from local musicians, a handful of stalls to wander through and plenty of familiar island faces around the tables. It feels less like a traditional market and more like a community Friday night where visitors are very welcome to pull up a chair.

And your night supports a good cause. The Magnetic Island RSL is the island’s local RSL Sub Branch, so having dinner, buying a drink and spending your Friday evening here helps support the organisation and its work within the community.
