Stage Door Theatre Restaurant
If you’re looking for a night out on Maggie that’s completely different to anything else on the island, Stage Door Theatre Restaurant is it. Tucked away in Arcadia, Stage Door has been entertaining audiences since 2005 with its wonderfully over the top mix of comedy, cabaret, live singing, impersonations and plenty of audience participation.
Bernadette Smith, Kevin Wright, and Lissy Loushay take to the stage with original shows packed with big voices, fabulous costumes, cheeky humour and songs you’ll probably know well enough to join in with. The show itself runs for around 90 minutes, and judging by the number of people who return year after year, don’t be surprised if you find yourself doing exactly that.
This isn’t only a show either. Your night includes a three course dinner, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free meals available when arranged at the time of booking, plus a fully stocked bar to keep the table suitably refreshed.
Stage Door generally performs on Saturday nights, with selected Friday shows throughout the year, so this is one island experience worth planning ahead for. Groups are well catered for too, making it a fun choice for birthdays, celebrations, hens nights or a Maggie weekend with friends.
And you don’t need a car. The island bus can drop you right outside and the evening is timed so you can even come across from Townsville for the show and catch the ferry home afterwards.
WHAT WE LOVE
A Proper Night of Entertainment: Live singing, comedy, costumes, impersonations and plenty of audience involvement. Stage Door is unapologetically theatrical, a little cheeky and unlike anything else you’ll do on Maggie.
Dinner & a Show: Your ticket includes a three course meal and the full 90 minute cabaret, so the whole evening is sorted in one booking. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free meals can also be catered for with notice.
Brilliant for a Group Night Out: Birthdays, celebrations, hens nights or a group of friends looking for something different. Stage Door loves a crowd, and groups of 10 or more can even book together while paying for their tickets individually.
