Pleasure Divers Magnetic Island
Sitting right across from Geoffrey Bay, Pleasure Divers is Magnetic Island’s longest running SSI dive shop and a great starting point for exploring what’s happening beneath the surface around Maggie.
If you’ve never dived before, this is a pretty special place to learn. Pleasure Divers has the only onsite purpose built dive training pool on Magnetic Island and in the Townsville region, allowing you to build confidence and learn the basics before heading into the ocean. Their SSI courses range from Open Water and refresher training through to Advanced, Rescue, specialty courses, Divemaster training and Kids Scuba.
Already certified? You can book a guided shore dive, night dive or hire scuba gear and explore independently. The team specialises in shore diving, with some of Magnetic Island’s fringing reefs and dive sites accessible straight from the beach. They can also help experienced divers organise trips further afield to bucket list sites including the SS Yongala and Museum of Underwater Art.
You don’t need to be a diver either. Snorkel gear and stinger suits are available for hire, and Geoffrey Bay’s snorkel trail is practically on their doorstep. If you’d rather have someone show you around, private guided snorkel tours head straight from the shop into Geoffrey Bay, with your own guide helping you discover the coral, giant clams and marine life along the way.
Pop into the shop before you hit the water and the team can also give you current advice on conditions and where to snorkel, which can make a big difference when you’re deciding which part of the island to explore that day.
WHAT WE LOVE
Learn Here, Dive Here: Start in their purpose built training pool before heading across to the ocean for the real thing. Small class sizes and easy access to shore dives make Maggie a pretty great place to get your first certification.
Geoffrey Bay at the Doorstep: The shop sits directly across from one of the island’s dedicated snorkel trails, putting fringing reef, giant clams and the Moltke wreck only a short walk away.
Hire It & Explore Yourself: Masks, snorkels, fins, stinger suits, wetsuits and full snorkel sets are available for hire, along with scuba equipment for certified divers. Grab some local advice before you leave and choose your own underwater adventure.
Private Guided Snorkelling: If you’re new to snorkelling or want to understand more about what you’re looking at, book a private guided snorkel through Geoffrey Bay with an experienced guide alongside you.
