The Coffee Kart
For plenty of locals, The Coffee Kart is part of the daily routine. Sitting outside the Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal on the bus stop side, it’s a familiar little island institution serving good coffee with plenty of personality.
Coffee is the main event, alongside cold drinks, muffins and easy snacks. Early risers are well looked after, with the Kart opening from 5.30am Monday to Saturday and 6.30am Sunday. You can even pick up whole or ground coffee beans to take home.
And then there are the blackboards. The ever changing messages out front have become almost as recognisable as the Kart itself, giving locals a laugh and visitors a little taste of Maggie personality on their way past.
The location couldn’t be much handier. Grab a coffee before jumping on the bus, wander over from your Nelly Bay accommodation, stop by while you’re shopping nearby or fuel up before heading off to explore the island. Good coffee, friendly local service and a very convenient little spot to find it.

A Proper Local Coffee Stop: This is part of the routine for plenty of islanders, with good coffee (made really quickly), familiar faces and friendly service bringing regulars back.
Those Blackboard Messages: Keep an eye on the board when you walk past. The changing messages have become part of The Coffee Kart’s personality and add a little entertainment to the morning coffee run.
Made for Maggie Mornings: Open early and sitting right beside the bus hub and ferry terminal, it’s perfectly positioned for grabbing a takeaway before work, the ferry or before you set off on your island adventures.
